remixed: jean jacket

Here's 3 outfits with a different style using the same jean jacket! When I'm shopping, I only buy things that will go with multiple outfits, not just a skirt that will work with one or two. That way I don't have to end up spending more money in the future looking for items that will go with it. An example would be the jean jacket I bought yesterday at forever 21 for $24, which goes with pretty much everything in my closet.
Outfit 1: formal! I'm actually wearing this outfit today, all from forever 21. I remixed it just a little bit with my diy'd galaxy t-shirt instead of the polka dotted shirt I actually bought at f21 yesterday. This outfit I might wear out to dinner, or to a fancy-er little outing.

Outfit 2: Semi-formal. This outfit is a little bit less dressier than the first. but still can be worn to a upscale event. The print on the dress isn't as fancy as the sheer fabric of the skirt in outfit 1. I looooove love love the lace toms in this! I'm thinking about getting them for myself in a while, because they're so perfect for spring and summer.
Outfit 3: Casual. This outfit could be worn to anything, and this is probably what I would wear to school without looking super lazy (read: yoga pants and sweatshirt) but also not looking super fancy.

What items do you have in your closet that you absolutely l-o-v-e?

middle parts & black friday deals

So today, I parted my hair in the middle-yes or no?

And then we had black friday today, and I went to the mall and looked in f21, wet seal, jcpenny's, and nordstrom. I was going to buy a super cute sweater at f21, but it wasn't on sale...then I bought tights at nordstrom, and a sweater at JCP's for $14. My mom and I went to Fred Meyer's afterward and actualy found better sales there! I got a scarf for $5 and a free cookie. Win-win.

What did you do this black friday?
xoxo Kelsey

p.s. I don't really like the idea of Black Friday-I only shop for the good deals.

*disclaimer: I was not asked by any of these stores to put them in my post-all opinions are (obviously) my own.

color blocking?

earrings: thrifted | scarf: unknown | shirt: fred meyer | skirt: f21 | tights: nordstrom | boots: payless

My first attempt at color blocking! Maybe this isn't really color blocking, but I wore a tan skirt and red tights, so it's kind of putting two colors you wouldn't think go together...together. At first this skirt looked too tight, like a pencil skirt, but once I put it with a longer shirt and tights, it didn't look as short and un-modest. The tights make it look not as short as it would with just boots and no tights.

xoxo!

color pop

dress: fred meyer | cardigan: target | tanktop: oldnavy

i love this dress. over a swimsuit, with a cardigan, maybe even with a shirt over the top so it looks like a skirt, it looks good.

and i remembered if you put two colors together that are opposite on the color wheel, they will pop. and make you sound super smart when you say it outloud.

yep.

fashion: day two

people, we are on a roll! let's get this pawty started for the second day in a row.

this is how to take a [or 500] picture of your outfit, and do an outfit post.

i take a lot of pictures. as you may see.
rule 1: always stare into the camera really serious like you're VERY interested in the people who are gonna read your post. and stand in a tree. with toms.
rule 2: make sure you stare very intently to the flowers that are on your left. i promise you, they're gonna be interesting. garountee or your money back.

rule 3: make sure to open your eyes really wide to scare the people on your blog. it's attractive. trust me, i would know.
rule 4: the door is your friend. stand in front of it and study your scarf. your neighbors will be mesmerized.
rule 5: measure your height by the door. that way you'll know if that door is right for you. if not, i promised you a garuntee or your money back, rememer?
rule 6: flipping your hair back and forth is a good tactic. that way, you are taking pictures, and looking like a rockstar at the same time. genius, right? and if that doesn't work, keep trying, and you'll end up looking like chewbacca in no time.

fashion: day one

to start off this fantabuloussupercalifragilisticexpialidocious week/month/year, i'm going to give you some tips on patterns.

just as a tip in general, don't be afraid to wear an awesome outfit even while you are carrying a bowl of chicken-noodle soup. it just works for followers...trust me, i know [hopefully].
 1. you can mix and match patterns. i have 2 different patters going on, the striped scarf and the heart skirt. the stripes work with the sweater, which is "rose," and the skirt works with my shirt [not pictured] because it's grey. if you find two patterns that you love, make sure they both have a partner in the outfit. the scarf and the sweater are partners, and the skirt and the shirt are partners.

 2. don't be afraid to mix shapes, either. i mixed the hearts in the skirt, the circular-ish pockets of the sweater, and the stripes in the scarf together. if two of them are in the same "family," such as the hearts and the pockets, because they are both rounded in some way, then you can incorporate another shape into the outfiit, like the stripes.

 3. remember not to over-pattern it. if you wear stripes, circles, hearts, triangles, squares, and every other shape known to mankind, it's not gonna work for ya. that creates too much distraction and brings away from the outfit. but if those shapes are all in one article of clothing, such as this skirt, then you might want to pair that with a plain t-shirt and accesorize with a cute beated necklace and a plain hairstyle, like a side braid.

 4. also, don't under-pattern it. if you aren't wearing any patterns at all, then the outfit will become kind of boring. you don't want to wear black yogas, a plain white t-shirt, and your hair just down, because that is not very interesting. instead, you could wear the white t-shirt with a skirt like this one, that has some pattern in it, and a light pink cardigan, maybe with a pair of earrings that help your face stand out.

see? it's easy, once you have the right patterns.

xoxo kelsey
