how do i hear god?

"sometimes, through that one verse, god speaks to me"
my sister asked this question as we were going to bed, and my dad answered by telling her that answer. just then, i felt as if god was speaking through him to me. Throughout the whole day i had been wondering how good could speak to me so i could become closer to him. this helped me. my dad also said that if you read something from the bible, you don't have to feel pressured to read a whole chapter, you can read just one verse-maybe from a psalm or proverbs, and meditate on that verse-doodle it on your math homework, write it on your hand, and that verse will become a prat of who you are as a person not just a regular person, but a person of god. tonight, i had to reach for my notebook on the ground and scribble this in because it meant something to me. i feel as if this is how i hear god, through other people. i want to share this with the whole world, shout it out of canyons, tell non-believers that there is a god who loves you and wants you to spend eternity with him-the god of the universe-that he'll care for you and always be there for you. this is how i hear god.

welcome winter, with your golden afternoon sunlight and grey skies.

welcome winter, with beautiful choirs singing praises, the highest notes gracefully ascending.

welcome winter, bringing holiday spirit into the hearts of everyone, the little one's eyes gleaming as you capture their little hearts with joy and admiration for christ jesus.

welcome winter, with your bitter nights, your frosty mornings, your breezy afternoons.

welcome winter, i'm glad you're here.

today.

today was one of those days where you feel like singing out to the world, one of those days where you want to go home early from school [for me, probably to blog, hehe] just to run around outside and be free. one of those days where you feel like the world is at its best, shining for all to see.

today my friends came over and we made marshmellow snowmen for school. ugh projects, but this one was my fave. it had food.

today was one of those days where you feel there wasn't enough "day" to go around; it ended too quickly. it was one of those days where you felt like pulling out your camera at every second, trying to capture each moment.

today was one of those days that i was smiling most of the day. [i say most of because when i found out i had homework, i wansn't smiling :)] every thing made me happy, from the complements i got on my braid to the preschool pageant that i helped out at. the kids at the pageant really brought out the christmas spirit in all of us.

today was one of those days where it felt like winter. everybody i knew was in a good mood, which reminded me of the christmas spirit. it also felt like winter because it was so cold! the little kids at the pageant were so happy and joyus it made me want to smile for the rest of the night, and i did.

today was one of those days that i loved.

what are your favorite kind of days?

luke 6:45

have you ever thought, "oh, it doesn't matter what I say, people still know i'm christian, right? i mean, i read the bible and all that..."

yes, we've all said or thought that sometime in this life. I know I have. But what you say does reflect off your heart. in fact, jesus said almost those exact words himself.

"a good man produces good out of the good storeroom of his heart. an evil man produces evil out of the evil storeroom, for his mouth speaks from the overflow of his heart."

for his mouth speaks from the overflow of his heart.

so that means, whatever you say, reflects off your heart. it's like words have a mirror, and when a word pops out of your mouth, whether it be good or bad, it's like it has a mirror reflecting straight to the light of your heart. metaphorically, the good words have a mirror that reflects a bright light coming straight from your heart, the light of Jesus. and the good words? there is no light.

so i know i'm not a pastor, but I believe that anyone can say this.

today I want all of you to check your mirror. ask your parents, your husband/wife, your siblings, anyone, "do i have a bright light in my heart?" tell them to answer honestly, and if the answer is "not really," then try to fix it. for a day, think about everything that you say, and everytime you talk, make sure to ask, "would jesus have said those exact words?"

remember,
his mouth speaks from the overflow of his heart.

easter.

First of all, let's hear an AMEN for the dude who died for our sins and then rose from the dead 3 days later.

I'm just amazed that God would sacrifice his only son for the lowly people of earth's sin. Jesus was beaten, stripped nearly naked, and made fun of. He was mocked by the soldiers. When he had given up his spirit, the curtain of the temple tore in two.

Now, three days later, Jesus has risen.

Matthew 28: 1-10
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it.  His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.  The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.  Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”
So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

I added the text

Jesus has risen.

I hope you all have a wonderful easter and can we hear an AMEN?
